The 99 Cent Series illustrates iconic contemporary and modern art museums with signs depicting them as 99 cent stores. This displacement in function serves as a forecast into the future where these buildings are no longer economically viable as fine art institutions and must be repurposed for low cost high volume retail outfits. The 99 Cent Series also acts as an installation proposal for the various currently operating art institutions provoking a second guessing of the function and perceived value of the current contents within.
